How Does Ultra Violet Light Work?
UV rays destroy 99.99% of harmful micro-organisms without adding chemicals or altering your water’s taste or odour. Ultraviolet light (UV) is a natural component of sunlight and is widely recognized as an efficient, reliable, and eco-friendly water disinfection method. The UV lamp uses a highly efficient UV radiator emitting light at a 254nm wavelength to instantly kill organisms and prevent their reproduction.
Water passes through a specially designed chamber that maximizes contact between the water and the UV light source. Microorganisms absorb the UV energy, which damages or inactivates their DNA, stopping their ability to multiply. Chemicals and organic compounds in the water also absorb this energy and break down into smaller, harmless molecules.
